You can ask people questions, or answer people's questions. That really is all it's for.
While there are other apps out there that do similar stuff, most of them really drive heavily towards social login with Facebook or Twitter, or even require it. We never will. While it's convenient to log in with social media, that comes with privacy concerns.
We may add OpenID support for other networks in the future, but we will always offer first-class support for email only accounts and will never federate to centralized services like Facebook.
